Fall Fishing Tip From Greg Bohannan

Fall means power fishing!   When the leaves start turning colors and the water starts to cool, the fishing starts heating up!   This is the time to get out your War Eagle Buzzbaits and your BassX jigs tipped with a Berkley chigger craw and head to the flats.  The fish on most reservoirs really group up on the flats this time of year.  The flats that have bait fish present this time of year will be the flats that you can weigh in tournament winning stringers.  I have learned over the year to employ a 1 - 2 punch with the buzzbait and jig.  First spool both baits up on a high speed reel.  I use the Abu Garcia 7:1 High Speed Revo.  I use 20lb. Berkley Big Game on the Buzzbait and 15lb. Berkley 100% fluorocarbon on the jig.  The buzzbait can be used to cover the open water on the flats and the jig/chigger craw combo can be used to pitch at any lay down or wood structure that you encounter on the flats. Flat fishing is a big part of my game plan each fall.
